Pursuant to D. 20-06-017 the IOUs submitted Advice Letters to detail changes to the NEM Tariff to facilitate the temporary import of power to an NEM-paired storage system, in advance of a PSPS event.
SDG&E AL 4275 states with the exception of Form 142-02775, revisions to SDG&E’s NEM tariff are not required to comply with the decision. SDG&E has a CPUC-approved attestation form that customers using a Power Control System (“PCS”) device must sign stating that they will not change the settings on their device. Therefore, a modification of this form is needed to include language in accordance with D. 20-06-017
Because SDG&Es tariff already allows most customers to charge their energy storage systems from the grid in advance of an announced PSPS event, the only process changes that SDG&E identified as a result of the Decision involve modifying the settings on a customer’s PCS device. However, once a customer with an energy storage system that uses a PCS device certified to export-only mode receives notification from SDG&E of an upcoming PSPS event, that customer will need to contact their storage device operator to authorize them to modify the settings on the PCS device.
